On other notes, I have done it! I registered for my second marathon! I happy to report that I actually have the start of my 2009 schedule.
Jan 11 - Disney marathon!
March 29th - Run Around the Bay 30k (maybe)
May 24th - Ottawa Marathon (registered!)
June 13th - Durham Region Forest Trail Run (Sport Distance for my first trail run)
Sept 27th - Scotiabank 1/2 marathon Toronto
Oct 18th - Goodlife Toronto Marathon (probably - as an employee of Goodlife I should participate in at least one event and I discovered the relay was not for me)
There is the matter of finding at least one other marathon outside of Canada (as per my New Years Resolutions). I plan on doing one other event in 2009 with the Arthritis Society and I am deciding between three:
Big Sur - California in April. This looks absolutely spectacular! I am a little concerned because it is in April (sooner than later) and it is VERY hilly. However, the course cannot be ignored.
Europe Marathon (Trieste, Italy) - May 9th. I would love to do this one as the group from the Arthritis Society is enormous but the marathon is small. The crowd support is not huge but come on ...it's Italy! However, it is significantly more expensive and it is unlikely my hubby could come with me. It seems a shame to go to Italy without my husband. Uuumm...
Barbado's Marathon (Dec 4th) - There are positives and negatives to this one. The positives are the location (obviously) and that it is not until December so possibly my hubby can come too. The negatives are that the comments on this race are not that great. The organization is reported to be inconsistent and the local support is low.
What to do??

That's it!! I need to register for a Spring marathon.
As for what to do...I say take it easy and rest the foot. If it was just the cold keeping you in, I'd tell you to get the heck out there! But since you're hurting, don't risk it. You won't lose your distance. This is taper time anyway, you're already ready for the big day!
What a great plan. The last race will be incredible, no matter what you choose.
Do not run on your sore foot, don't even think about it. Rest and relax (taper time) until race day.
Have fun at Disney!!
enjoy the warmth inside and rest up that foot.. you're so close. All of those marathons sound amazing... i love Barbados, but have never been to Europe :)
I love that you signed up for a second marathon before your first is finished! That's awesome.
I'd say hop on a bike for your pre-marathon runs. You're trained, and don't want to risk hurting your foot.
Barbados sounds tempting right about now. It's FREEEEEEEEEEZING today.
Congrats on signing up for your next marathon already!
One week to go - eeee!
I am so excited for you! Just rest and relax and enjoy the taper. You are ready for Disney!!
I think I am going to do Big Sur this year, but the others sound great too.
There is no trouble with skipping today's run. You've already put the hard work in. I agree with everyone else's comments - just let your foot rest.
Good luck at the marathon next weekend. Won't it be nice just to escape this winter weather?! I can't wait :)
Rest up! You & you foot have earned it :)
I like the option between Big Sur & Trieste!
I would be a fan of Italy but also understand the limitations there. Happy 2009 the possibilities are endless! :o)
Go to Italy!
What a great schedule. I'm definitely inspired.
Rest up! You've got the training in the bag at this point.
Italy sounds awesome, but I'd definitely want my husband with me.
Ooo they all sound good. Awesome that you signed up for another. I haven't written off Big Sur, I'll have to call you this week. So excited for you!!
Ps - rest up and never mind that foot. You are days away from becoming a marathoner!! I am so excited for you!!!
tapering is a hard period of the training, but it sound slike your foot needs it. I would love to run a marathon in Barbados.... heck, I would love to run one any where at this point.
Well.........what about a marathon in Australia? Gold Coast, Sydney, Darwin, ACT......usually in our cooler months - May through September. A$ / US$ exchange rate is pretty good - your way!
Barbados...dude...Barbados!
Just think of all that warm weather down in Florida!!!
It'll pay off!
Since I'm doing it, too, my vote is Big Sur!!
