Work, Kids, Holidays, Training, Trip..... I'm Tired

I am really getting tired. I work full time and although I have a great job, I am pretty busy and have full days. My children, while I adore them - are EXHAUSTING. They have started to fight with each other CONSTANTLY which is driving me insane. They will fight about who gets to drink from the blue cup and who gets to stand beside the cart in the grocery store, who's snowball is the biggest and so on...I really thought a boy and a girl wouldn't fight so much. I stand corrected.

I am getting very nervous about the race so I stress about each training run a bit more than I should. The weather is stressing me because I really hoped December was going to be a more mellow weather month. This makes training more challanging because of the added thoughts about how and where to run. Not to mention, running 25 or 30k + takes a really long time! With little spare time as it is, giving up so many hours is wearing me down.

I think I have Christmas presents for all and have thought of everything but I know I am forgetting someone and with little time to get out, I hope that doesn't happen.

Finally, I am trying to plan for our trip which up to the this point has been sort of secondary to all this. Now I am starting to realize that in less then a month, my family (including my 3 and 6 year old) are heading on an airplane to a far away destination. This can not be done on a lark!

Umm...maybe I should head out to play tennis or something physical. Oh that's right, I can't do that because my husband is at his one night a week hockey game and sadly a 6 year old is not a suitable babysitter. :)

If you can believe it, reading all these posts including Marci's that I just read has me thinking about what race I will want to do next! I think I am insane. Aren't we all?

hang in there, won't be easy, i'm sure, but it will totally be worth it. The satisfaction and pride you will get for running your marathon, and your kids' faces as they experience the time of their lives, in between which Disney character is the best ;)

Hang in there! You are almost there!

I have two boys, but they are four years apart. I thought that they'd be far enough apart not to argue. I was wrong.

The hard training for the marathon is in the bank. You've done the work - the hay's in the barn. This last month is designed to wind you down to race day so don't fret about shortening some of those long runs because of the weather and / or time limits.

You'll be sore after the race regardless if you log 34 K long runs in blinding snowstorms or not. Try and relax.

Prepping for a Christmas marathon, let alone prepping for Christmas, is no easy chore. Add to the fact you've got to plan and pack up the family, do laundry, buy groceries, make lunches, bath the kids, give gifts, attend cookie exchanges and school concerts...and work full time?

I get it.

had to delurk and cheer you on.

you are CLOSE AND CAN DO THIS!

I may never do a marathon and am in awe at the hardest piece (IMO) that youve already cranked out.

all the training!!

We would love to have you and the kiddos in KC...

This time of year is stressful in itself but trying to get a marathon in as well can add a few extra gray hairs.

Try to take it easy. It all will work out in the end! :)

This would definitely be a challenging time to be training for an upcoming marathon. As if December isn't busy enough! I don't know how you juggle everything, but you're doing a great job of it!

here's hoping Mother Nature is kinder in the coming weeks so you don't have the added challenge of trudging through snow.

I hear ya on the fighting. I have two girls 4 1/2 years apart and the argue all the time, that is when I want to go out for a run. Hang in there, the weather is such a frustrating part of running. I am ready to buy a treadmill. I is so cold here..... UGH

I'm always amazed at people who can fit the training in on top of kids. I struggle to balance work, a husband and running...could not do it w/ kids, too!

I think it is totally normal to be nervous about your training leading up to a marathon. But you ran the long distances and one miss long run will not make you not finish the run. Do your best that's all you can ask of yourself!! Good luck!

BTW, my brother and I fought like crazy when we were kids. Then bang when I was 12 and he was 16 we became the best friends in the world. Give it a couple of years and it will be over lol

Your schedule sounds tough-- no wonder you're tired. I have a hard enough time without kids and have no idea how you do it-- but you know what, you're an inspiration to me, and if you could do all you do AND have children who don't bicker (does such a thing exist?) I might think you were a figment of my imagination.

It takes a lot to be a full time working mom of two who does lots and lots of running! You can do it though I'm sure! Deep breath and you'll be okay. Positive the rewards for all your hard work are worth it!

I have kids that fight as well. I feel your exhaustion.
You have been training well, you will do great in your marathon! And.. you will be at the "Happiest Place on Earth" with your favorite people in the world! I don't think it gets any better that! I KNOW how stressful it can all be, hang in there.
